A long time ago, a big strong lion was awakened from sleep by a young small mouse running over his face. Rising up angrily, the big strong lion caught the small mouse and was about to eat him, when the mouse begged, saying if you would spare my life, i would be sure to repay your kindness. The big strong lion laughed at the idea of the small mouse helping a lion and let him go, shortly after this, the big strong lion was caught by some hunters and tied to the ground using strong ropes. The mouse recognising his roar came and bit through the rope with his sharp teeth, setting the big strong lion free. The mouse said then you have helped me and now i have returned the favor. It shows that even a mouse can help a lion. The moral of the story is no act of kindness, no matter how small is ever wasted.

Happy New Year(2009)

Thoughts to ponder:
1. Inspirations never go in for long engagement; they demand immediate marriage to action
2. Don't wait for "your ship to come in" and feel angry and cheated when it doesn't. Get going with something small
3.The turning point toward change and action is not the infilling of the mind but the exercising of the will
4. Its the action, not the fruit of the action thats important. You have to do the right thing. It may not be in your power, may not be in your time, that there'll be any fruit. But that does not mean you stop doing the right thing. You may never know what results come from your action. But if you do nothing, there will be no results.

If you read or watch the news regulary with the consious intent of finding business ideas, you'll be amazed at how many business opportunities your brain generates

Atheist gives $22.5 million to Catholic Education

Wonders they say never end. With God, nothing is impossible.
These sayings were brought to bear when an atheist surprised the world by donating a whooping sum of twenty two million, five hundred thousand dollars($22.5 million) to Catholic Education.
The record breaking gift was given to the Archdiocese of New York by a self-styled atheist Robert Wilson to provide educational scholarships for inner-city children.
The Cardinal Archbishop of New York, Edward Cardinal Egan has expressed his gratitude for such a donation. According to him, it is a historic and far-sighted support from Mr. Wilson for the education and future well-being of our neediest children in the archdiocese.
He was filled with happiness that Mr. Wilson donated the money to his Scholarship programme, which he started in the Archdiocese in 2005 to aid disadvantaged students.
Mr. Wilson fielding in question to press men from Bloomberg said he owes the tribute to Catholic Church and not even to God since as an atheist he does not believe in God. He rather believes in the catholic church for her contributions to development of the world.
"Lets face it, without the Roman Catholic Church, there would be no Western civilisation", Wilson Said,"Shunning religious organisation would be abhorrent"he added.
Wilson, 80, therefore said, it was a chance for a very modest amount of money to get kids out of lousy school system and into a good school system, adding that he has no problem and will not grow tired of giving money to fund Catholic schools.

The Entrepreneurial Mindset

Your business will only achieve its true potential when you begin to think business. By adopting the right Entrepreneurial Mindset, you can improve your chances for success and avoid suffering a similar fate of 550,000 small firms that closed operations last year, as reported by the U.S. Small Business Administration.
Small and home-based businesses fall by the wayside for a variety of reasons. This is often as a result of factors such as; under capitalization, miscalculated market potential, ineffective marketing to poor management and operation. For whatever reason, onwers of these businesses have failed to think creatively and strategically to allow their business to overcome the challenges that came along the way.
Based on a 19-year study conducted by doctor Paul Nutt, a professor at Ohio state University's Fisher college of business, the success rate of decisions made by executives and managers at 356 different companies were tracked. His study showed that more than 50 percent of all decisions failed;they were quickly abandoned, only partially implemented, or never adopted at ll. Executives never considered alternatives, once they made up their mind, while many decisions reflected an egotistical take charge approach. Hence, it is no woner that many business decisions failed, and iniatives collapsed.
A new book by Dave Marcum, Steve Smith and Mahan khalsa entitled businessThink could help improve your chances by providing you with simple and easy steps to adopt a winning entrepreneurial mindset. Unlike other business books that are either too theoretical or technical, businessThink gives you ideas on what to do day to day. According to the authors, it will give you the business tools to transform what you think about to what you ultimately could be doing.
The reality is that once you start a business, you will constantly be bombarded by the pressure to get it right-make the right decisions, get the right funding, create the best marketing strategy or hire the right people. You will then discover that the written rules and language of business that's learnt in business schools are dramatically different from the real world way of doing business. It is therefore essential that you develop a business instinct that would allow you to immediately sense what works and what does not before you waste the time, money and effort to really find out the hard way.
The core of the book is the 8 rules the authors propose to help cultivate in you a fundamentally new way of thinking, communicating and decision making in business. The authors presents these rules to create a framework for cultivating this different thought process, giving you skills for thinking through decisions and day to day issues that your business faces.
According to Alexis Pleshette,
Your business will only achieve its true potential when you begin to "think business.
"Learn the 8 rules that will help cultivate in you the proper mindset to succeed in business.

Rule One: Check Your Ego at the Door

Have you ever heard yourself say, This is my business, I will do whatever I want with it! According to the authors, getting rid of this attitude is the first step to changing your business for the better.

You do not need arrogance, defensiveness, or a desperate need for approval in your quest for entrepreneurial success, as these behaviour can only shut down dialogue, opportunities and decisions. The authors point out that humility clears the path to solutions. You may be brilliant but you need to realise that you do not know everything, in fact, no one does. Hence, you may need collaboration and inputs from other people, which you can only maximise if you set your ego aside.

In business think mode, you also have to stop thinking in black and white. The business world is not either this or that, or a go or no-go world. Instead, you need to learn how to explore every option in between, including every imaginable exception.

Rule Two: Create Curiosity

According to the authors, curiosity is the driving force behind business thinking. Curiosity provides you the motivation to seek out new options, opens your minds and creates an atomosphere of asking "what if" questions that get to the heart of the matter.

Again, what you currently know sometimes gets in way of what you need to know, but do not know. Hence, you need to develop the kind of curiosity that goes beyond asking about facts and data gathering. Instead , you need to ask questions that dig into possibilities, outcomes and options. For you creativity to produce outstanding results, you need to first learn as much as possible outside your own knowledge and expertise. Be a sponge for information and use it to refresh your experience and knowledge rather than allowing yourself to feel as if new information puts you at risk.

Rule Three: Move Off the Solution

Do not prematurely focus on the solution itself and find quick fixes to your problems. Focus and clarify the issues first. You need to get to the underlying business issues, evidence and finacial impact on the company and work from there. Remember, a solution is worthless unless and until it creates business value, prevents a problem or invents a new result to the business needs. Otherwise, a solution is merely an event.

Information Technology

It is impossible to do any piece on IT without mentioning or focusing on the internet, especially since the emergence of web 2.0 technologies. Common sense dictates that for any business to survive, it has to be able to present its products to the public, inparticular its intended market segment. Therefore it is safe to conclude that the companies that will be most profitable, are those that can reach the customers the most through advertising/marketing.
Technology has changed and reshaped advertising even in the developing world whereby the consumers can be reached through more avenues than leaflets, sign board advertising and so on. Today, with the dominance of the internet in everyday living, businesses cannot afford to ignore the internet market as a crucial avenue to flog their goods. The reality is that small business need to embrace technology if they are to survive.
Advertising through the internet saves cost and does not necessarily need to have an office space immediately. Therefore small companies that wants to survive need a website of its own. And indeed technology has so advanced that anyone can now create their own web page through do it yourself software e.g windows web publishing tools etc or buy your own NICHE WEBSITE.
E-business allows allows the product to be available to millions of customers at the same time and across many continents. For instance, the UK net shopping soared more than 50% in 2007 to a record of 46.6 billion pounds sterling. Online processing of orders, payment and indeed tracking of their orders is now also very possible through the internet. This will give the customer peace of mind in knowing exactly the status of their order without any human intervention. If delivery is also included, the customer does not have to leave his home to transact business.
There are readily available softwares that allow the automation of tasks and processes such as customer relationship management (CRM), Enterprise resource planning (ERP), Human resource management (HRM), Capacity planning, Risk management tools, etc. These softwares provide solutions/strategies to hitherto numerous tasks that can slow down and at times cripple the companys progress.

Consumer and Profiling

By setting up a system to understand, anticipate, and manage customers wants and needs, businesses can improve profits and revenues, as well as access to clients.
In Europe, America and the far East, businesses now use it systems to collect and Analyse the shopping behaviour and traffic flows of customers through shops. This information is then used to ascertain how to improve layout or placement of promotional displays thus reshaping their merchandising approaches and enabling them make more sales. A beginer with access to similar information will no doubt leave its competitors trailing and indeed capture the market. Recommendation engines are now a popular tool on websites. They help correlate the purchase histories of every customer with those of others who made similar purchases to come up with suggestions for things that he or she might buy. The customer ends up spending more. Another invaluable tool for new business which will make a difference in sales revenue.

IT and customer data

To have an advantage over competitors, beginers that can adequately collect, store and utilise customer data will be better placed to tailor its product to meet the specific demand and thus become profitable. The more a company knows about specific need of its customer, the better able it is to create offerings they want, to target them with messages that get a response, and to extract the value that an offering gives them.

Information is wealth and how you use it is a different story entirely. A beginer will not loose by collecting and storing data because reselling or granting access to data collected to other business that may need it thus generating addition income Letting others be the innovator of the products
For instance, set up a chat room or discussion pages that will enable the customers, suppliers, small specialist businesses, and independent contractors to decide what they want, need and how the product should be created and presented is a way of the future. This will put the beginer ahead of its competitors

Out sourcing expertise via the web

It is better for a beginer to outsource those aspects of the business that they do not have expertise in. The internet enables access to a wealth of talent and there is always a better way to do things. Trying to do it all on your own is no longer an option today. A beginer that takes this into consideration and plans for this indeed will go a long way

Multi functionalism of the enterprise

Although it is wise, to focus on a key product or service and be known for that, with the advent of IT, beginers can provide for more than one segment and purpose. For instance a product that serves more than one purpose.

Pros of open standard architecture in system

These days most software subscribe to an open standard. Having a database of information that any web server can plug into will make it easier for the business to reach a better market and offer its product more. The clients just have to 'plug in' upgrading will also be easier as well.

Benefits of e-business bodies and associations

Belonging to bodies or associations with similar objectives opens avenues to opportunities, people and system networking and information. A beginer business can share data, network and system resources

I love clickbank

Clickbank is very good when buying digital products online because you have 60 days to test the product and if you don't like it, you can ask them to refund back your money and return the product to the seller, i have bought many products through clickbank and some of the products i don't like, clickbank did refund my money back to my credit card, Some digital product sellers will even try to trick you to keep thier product for more than 60 days so that you won't be able to get your money back, what i usually do is test the product for 2 weeks to 1 month, by then i should have find out if the product is good for me or not, as of paypal, my experience with them sucks, they ask funny questions like what are you doing with the product that you purchased or that u should upload the receipt of the product for them to see, i bought a website through a verified paypal account and contacted them that i have received my product and they are still temporary holding the sellers money for me to respond to thier funny questions like what product am i selling with the website, paypal need my bank account infomation and proof of address, even my visa card statement to serve me better, i wonder why they don't request it before verifying my account, and the worst part of it is that i travelled to another country and can't give them all those proof right now from where i am, so for now i think paypal sucks, my question now is will paypal refund my money back if i don't want to continue using it for now, maybe i will still use it later when i can give them all the proof that they need.
